N things I didn't think I needed

To clarify, this post is not a neo-luddite rant about modern day marketing driven consumerism; nor is it a *humorous* neo-luddite rant about modern day marketing driven consumerism.

It's just a bland list of things that I didn't think I needed/wanted, but got/experienced, and I now can't imagine life without. I'm not putting a number as I'm sure there would be more things to add. Why I'm making this list? Why not? Everyone needs lists ... Some day I'll make a list of my lists. Anyways ...

Electric toothbrush - You can try as hard/long as you want, you can't beat the feeling that comes from an electric toothbrush.

A full touch screen smart-phone - It's got more to do with the app ecosystem than the phone itself. Whether you need directions or watch a video, there's an app for both and everything in between. I thank/pity the early adopters; without these people willing to get screwed by tech cos, gadgets would be lot slower to come and costly.

Tablet - Same as phones, but in a size that doesn't strain the eyes or the limbs.

Passenger side mirror and audio system in the car - Bangalore traffic!

Watch(es) - No one "needs" a watch. But ...

Certain life experiences - As Kurt Cobain said - "No one dies a virgin ..."; so, better when you can bounce back.

This blog - Read the first sentence again. Where else can I say that.
